smilies/angry.gif As a retailer all my life I know the owners will want feedback - good or bad. Only the coffee and the view was excellent. Outrageously high prices for poor food. No wonder the place was empty at lunch time on a Sunday. Meat floating in meatless pea soup, over-baked greasy crab back with a tired salad, awful curried goat, uneatable chicken doused in tamarind sauce and dry carrot cake - all totalling over J$10,000 for three people including a service charge for poor service? (Oh I forgot the soup order, p'ease use the same cutlery for both courses, and let me give you this to carry on your way down rather than me have to bring it to you...and so on.) Just dreadful. Never again.

Set almost at the peak of the mountainous climb from Papine that leads you down to Buff Bay in Portland on the other side, this lovely little café is the best respite anywhere in Jamaica. With a streamlined menu of tasty local dishes with an expert flair and friendly and easy service, the Gap gives visitors atmosphere enough to take home. Birds land on the outside tables and clouds pass unobtrusively as you enjoy brunch or lunch. It’s worth the scenic drive any Saturday or Sunday and is even more alluring on the quiet weekdays.
