Hotel Mocking Bird Hill sits on a hill outside Port Antonio, with a great view of the bay. It is environmentally friendly with solar heating, natural air cooling and offers a pool that is chlorine free.

The experience at Mocking Bird is different from what one finds in North Coast resorts and the luxuries they offer. But it's fun for the adventurous and the carbon conscious. You are encouraged to reuse towels and all rooms are non smoking.

The surrounding vegetation is lush, and there are a few trails to go on a nature walk. The weather at Mocking Bird is much like in a rain forest, with frequent rains that make for cozy nights.

The hotel offers a nice experience if you don't have to be pampered all the time, but for what you get the price could seem a bit high to some.

The beach, unfortunately, is several minutes away and you have to pay. So don't go if you are the sun and sand type. One compensation is that the hotel's restaurant Milles Fleurs, offers tasty food, with some inventive vegetarian items on the menu.
