Tastee moves into Stony Hill

tastee-200x200Tastee Jamaica Limited officially opened the doors Thursday last (August 20) to its spanking new Stony Hill location. The occasion was the first of its kind for the company, now in its 43rd year of producing its signature patties that are enjoyed both locally and internationally.

President of the Jamaica Manufacturers' Association Omar Azan congratulated the company on its latest achievement, calling it a significant stride despite the harsh economic climate. "I must congratulate Mr Vincent Chang and his family for this bold move, an example of the resilience of the local manufacturing industry. Jamaica needs this type of activity for the country to recover." Andrew Gallimore, minister of state in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, echoed Azan's sentiments and added that, "This Tastee branch brings job creation to the area and adds significant value to the economy of Stony Hill."

Patrons and specially invited guests sampled treats from the Tastee menu while they enjoyed performances by Tastee Talent Trail 2008 finalist Miss Katty, 2007 winner Marvin Fishley and the 2008 winner Kelvin Dixon.

Stony Hill resident Richard West was happy with the latest addition to the Stony Hill Square which makes it easy for him and his family to enjoy their favourite Tastee meals. "Everytime I drive past the square I feel so proud, this new building is huge and really brightens up the area. I love Tastee and this location makes it so convenient to get a meal for me and my family," Dixon stated.

Guest Speaker Mayor Desmond McKenzie thanked the company for its faith in the Jamaican people and its corporate support throughout communities in the country.

"Tastee Jamaica Limited produces over 100,000 patties per day consumed right across Jamaica and as far as Antigua, the Cayman Islands, Trinidad and Tobago and is not only concerned about making profits but is cognisant of its social and cultural responsibility to Jamaica through its corporate programmes." Sponsors for the event included Pepsi Jamaica Limited, GraceKennedy Limited, Tru-Juice, Big Jo Fruit Drinks and National Meats.
