Bump it! This tour of the facility gives a peek into the history of cane and rum making in this country. The factory started blending rums in 1749 at the Rum Distillery by Black River. The museum is situated on the site of the legendary musician's home, which he purchased in 1975. This house, featuring 19th-century architecture, was Marley's home until his death in 1981. It was converted into a museum six years later. The main museum displays Marley's personal treasures. Fern Gully is a stretch of Highway A3 that winds south from Ocho Rios. For three miles, the road is lined with lush ferns and innumerable plants; well worth the drive.
Named for the luminous insects seen on warm evenings, this historic home belonged to the playwright Noel Coward. A tour of Firefly includes a look at the home, photos of the many celebrity guests and the grounds where Coward is buried.
It is believed that sometime before 1724 the Spaniards built the original Flat Bridge with logs. Eventually, flooding from the Rio Cobre destroyed it. Legend has it that slaves rebuilt it, and there is a story that the ghosts of all those who drowned there gather at the bridge every Good Friday. The current bridge was built sometime betwen 1881 and 1915. Research is sketchy, but it is said that material from the original May Pen Bridge was used.
